DOGS.
Tbe entry io the olaa* for dogs' was not a large one, but the animals shown ware a very passable lot. Tbe facta remain, however, that without an aotual tost of the skill of the animals la working sheep, the competition cannot altogether • be re* garded as a strisfaotory ooe. This we have pointed out In former yeara, and as almost all concerned oolnolde with thla opinion tt seems feasible for auoh trials to be arranged. In the olaas for smooth ooated collies, seven dogs were shown! the first prize being taken by Mr Oorrlgan's "Las a," an animal that shows unmtsukeable evidence* of a good pedigree, ffloond honors being awarded to Mr LUtleoot's Jaoob. Bight dog. were brought forward ln the olaas for roagh coated oooliea, and Mc Rattray's " Tweed " and Me Wallace Smith's "Don" | were adjudged worthy of firat and seoond i honor* respectively. The olais for .oattla ! dogs did not elicit any competition. '
