Mblboubwb, OoVober x 6. There is great excitement at Filzroy over an alleged case of Asiatic cholera. An Indian from Singapore died suddenly and one doctor declared that true cholera was the case Of death, while the health officer declared that it was a case ot disentery. The doctor of the steamer, on board of which the deceased roan came to the colony, declares on the other hand that death was the result of debility, and it was on his certificate than the man was buried. The house m which the man died, and the steamer on board ot which he arrived have been quarantined a* a precaution m the event of the case being really one of cholera. TASMANIAN DEFENCES. Hobabt, Ooober 19 General Edwards' report upon the defence forces of Tasmania discloses a very unsatisfactory state of affairs. He states that but little reliance can be placed on the means of defence provided, and that if an enemy landed within a day's march of the capital there was nothing to prevent its capture.
