NEW ZEALAND POLITICS.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION )
Melbourne. O-toW 17 The " Argus" this morning, m referring to the reconstruction of the New Zealand Ministry, has the following : — ' It now remains to be seen whether iSir Harry Atkinson, the Premier, and his colleagues will retain the confidence of the country. The New Zealand.-rs have been addicted to the discusaion ot theoretical and political politics, and as a consequence they measure the success of Governments by the policy of their Bills, not by their administration. Now that the Premier has accomplished the feat of setting the finances of the colony, m order, there are probably people who begin to think that the time for further political experiments has arrived. The New Zealand Exhibition may, however, afford distraction from this view, and give the Government lime to mature a policy upon which they could appeal to the country." The " Argus" adds that it will probably be found that the fewer experiments are tried and the less political squabbling the colony hag for a year or two, the more solid will its prosperity become.
