The constable was only absent a few seconds, but on hiß return the prisoner had disappeared, leaving no trace behind* Persson was sentenced to imprisonment for seven days on Saturday last on a oharge of obtaining money by false pretences, and as bis term of durance would have ended at three o'olook this afternoon it is diffioult to oonjeoturg wby he ran away, seeing that another term will follow on his capture. He was dressed m prison trousers, shirt, and oap at the time of his esoape.
