Chkistohuroh, Ootober 16. The wather was fine and the market active, Improved entries being the order of the day, particularly m the sheep pens. Store Sheep — There were a good many lines which sold freely at the following prices ; --Crossbred ewes and lambs Irom 9s 7d to 14s sd, according to quality and percentage of lambs ; half and crossbred hoggets realised 9s sd, 103 sd, and 12s 4d j merino wethers fetched 4s, and some shorn merino ewes m forward condition reached 4-ja Fat Sheep— Nearly 6coo were yarded, of which about a third were shorn. From the commencement of the sales it was evident that the tone was nearly e^ual to that of last ' week m cases where best quality was on offer. Best crossbred wethers and maiden ewes fetched from 18s id to 21s m the wool, while a remarkably fine lot of shorn wethers went a bargain at 145 fid; equal to i^d per lb dead weight. There was a, drag m the sale of • inferior quality which suffered m comparison. Fat Lambs— There was a good entry, the quality all round being good. They realised up to 12s 6d. Store Cattle— The yards were but poorly filled* There was nothing of superior quality* Prices remained much the same as last week, • The entry of beef was good. A line of < seventeen nee steers which Messrs Parkinson .> Bros, Kaituna, sent, realised ;£8 15s per head, • about 21s per icolb. Other good sort* fetched up to this price, while inferior beef sold at irom 17s to 19s }er looibs. One exceptionally fine vealer fetched 35s j others sold at various rates. Pigs— The entry was the smallest for some time, including a few light baconers, but the majority were porkers and stores. They sold -'■ much the same as last week.
