A man named Gurnoy was going on tho river m a boat containing his wifo and seven children, when suddenly a mass of earth fell from the bank knocking the bottom out of tho boat. All tho occupants wore thrown into . the water and six of the children were drowned. Gurnoy himself waa seriously injured, and his condition is considered critical, Mrs Gurney received a severe shock, and her mind is unchingod.
