CHURCH CONGRESS.

At the Church Congress 'to-day, Mr Terry read a paper on " The stage and its effects." The paper went generally m defence of the stage, and argued that the charges brought by the clergy were prejudiced against the theatre, which has been found a necessity 6f the present time, Lo.vdon, Oot.obnr 6. At the Church Congress^ Bijhop Thornton of Ballarat said the Colonial Church was quite distinct from that of England. Bishop Barry held that the bonds of sympathy between the Churches were of much value. Bishop Selwyn paid a tribute to the valuable work done by Anglican missionaries. Both the Bishops of Ballarat and Cardiff supported Bishop Barry m advocating the Home reunion of Churches.
