MAYFIELD

(rnoii ooa own cobbkbpondjshx.) The Salvation Army took a run round this part last Sunday, starting at Lismore at II o'clock? There was not a very large turn out there as the fact was not known about' the district. From Lismore they went to Ruapiina at 3 o'clock, where they had ST full house and a very orderly audience, and from Ruapuna they'came to Mayfield, but, owing to the wet night there were not so many present as would have been the case h-d the weather been fine. Still a very fair number turned out and there was a very good meeting. When the soldiers were ready to start for home, and had just yoked up the horse m the buggy, it reared and ftll over break ng one of the shaft* m two. but as the accident happened at the blacksmith's shop door the damaged shaft was soon fixed up well enough to take them home, the soldiers comforting themselves for the mishap by the reflection "No cross, no crown." The Good Templars are still going ahead m this district. The are steadily increasing m number and are now preparing for their anni* versary tea meeting, which will be held ia Mr Spencei's house (as on previous occasions) on Friday October 4. These meetings 'have always been a success and we look for thefcarae this year ii the weather be favorable. Mayfield, October I.
