ISLAND NEWS.

bYDNKY. September 27. The s.s. Lubeck has arrived here from the Islands.

Nothing important has transpired at Samoa since the receipt of last news. Admiral Kimberly and staff, of ihe United States Navy, left for San Francisco by the last mail steamer. The Admiral was the recipient of presents from Maatafa.

It is reported that the Union Steam ship Company are considering the desirableness of tendering for the French mail service between Samoa and Tahiti and Honolulu.

The reports of the lawlesness of the Saraoan natives are contradicted. Mataafa's police are doing useful work.
