Nothing fresh was eliolted The girl being under examination confessed she waa not 111-treated, Tha examination of the three witnesses for lbs prosecution was completed, and the enquiry was then adjourned till tomorrow,
A letter has be°n received by tbe Hospital Board from J. Howe, of. Onehanga, stating that without his o neat t an operation was performed on his wife, who was a patient at the Hospital, and she died throe days afterwards. Ho asks for an explanation as to the oauee of the operators' actions. The medioal staff of tho Hospital have accordingly be n asked to report npon tho Bubjeot. An interesting point was raised at the Resident Magistrate's Court upon an application for the iasne cf a speedy auramonß under Bute 80, Abolition of Impriflonmont for Debt Act, 1874 The defendant, Captain ttwuin, is master of the bnrqae Alice, which is about to leave for Now York. Mr Campbell appeared for defendant, and argued that Captain Swain was not leaving his dwelling m terms of Rule 8, but taking it with him, ac he lived ou board his ship. Dr Gi.es canaidored this objection good, and dismissed tho applloa'ion.
