He spoke of the uurlvaUed value of Friendly Societies as Institutions for the wage-earners' thrift. He referred to fil ure among Societies m England and Ameiloa as a warning to New Zealand Societies oharglng Inadequate contributions. He showed that tae slokness rate ia already higher m old-established Lodges here thau the Eoglisb average and defended the principles on wbioh valuations were made.
