Amongst them were a few medium draughts of a better stamp than has been offered la'ely, and for which biddings were spirited, nearly f he whole of the entry of this class changing hands at very satisfactory p ices. For light harneni horses and hacks biddings were slow. For the entires offered it was difficult to obtain bids, opinions freely expressed that there were more offering than what there was a demand for. At the usual annual Parade there was a larger entry than there has be- n for some years past, and the quality of the stock exhibited was certainly a credit to the county. With such a number of good s ; res it is to be hope 1 that farmers will be careful to breed from first-class mares so that the breed generally m this county should be belter than it has been hitherto. It is a well-known fact that it is seldom ever any horses of a good stamp brought to the yards for sale are turned out unsold, and, as a rule, they command payable prices. Mr D. Thomas offered by auction the whole of :he entries as follows : — Renfrew Jock and ; Young Wellington, Clydesdales, the property of Mr George Mangan, Greendale, also the C'ydesdale entire Sir William Jervois, the property of Mr R. Charters, Uiy Park, Mosgiel, Otago j the thoroughbred entiie Montr^se and Prince Frederick, by Berlin, the property of Mr J. Griggj Young Digby, by Digby Grand, Mr George Osborne. Although the whole of the ie commanded a deal of attention the biddings not reaching owners' limits were all passed, lhe pony Tom Tit was sold for £11. Mr Charters' Sir William Jervois was sold private'y to Mr Andrew Dawsoa of Longbeach, at a satisfactory figure, and Mr Dawson is to be congratulated on his purchase as Sir William is a well bred horse, got by the well-known and highly prized sire What's Wanted, dam Polly Wallace, by Wallace imported from Victoria, Wallace gaining innumerable prizes m that Colony and has also been very successful m New Zealand show rings. Polly Wallace's dam by Emperor out of the the late Mr Mime's imported mare. It should be mentioned that he is only two years and eight months old. Mr Charters is known to be a good judge and very successful breeder.

Out of the ordinary day's entry 15 were sold as follows : — On account Mr R. Charters, a 4-year 'old draught gelding of a good stamp brought £29, On account of other vendors, 5-year .old draughts, £16, £1?, £19, £23 iosj 6 and 7«year old, £t6 ios, £19; 8-yeir» old and aged, £6 ios, £j, £8 15s, £13 ios j backs and harness horses, £5 15s, £9 up to accordng to description

Sundries : Double lurrow plough, ,£5 15s ; set of harrows, £$ ; set of harness, £z 12s 6d; collar, hames ;.nd chains, £2; covers, blinkers, etc., at market rates.
