CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE REPORT

The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday September 20th. Farmers are now offering their wheat much more freoly and are disposed to aooept reasonable rates, but the great soaroity of tonnage for London restriots business m that direotion, and the Sydney market with the steady im» ports by the Mail Steamers from Frisoo show no signs of a revival, indeed prioes m that market are lower than ever. Qata are dull but as arrangements have been made for shipping considerable parcels to Melbourne during the next few weeks we do not expect to Bee prioes rule much lower; atooks however are rather heavy down South for bo late m the season, Barley is simply unsaleable ; even feed is without enquiry, ohoice malting (of whioh there is a little m the market) find buyers at 3s 5d to 3s 6d. Beans and peas have a fair trade, at our quotations. Ryegrass has been offering freoly from the South, whioh has had the effect of depressing the local market, prioes consequently have given way< The following are our quotations ; — Wheat— Tuscan, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; pearl, 3s Id to 3a 2d ; Hunter's, 3s to 3a Id ; broken wheat, 2a 6i to 2s Bd.

Oats— Milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; good short feed, 2s 7d ; ordinary feed, 2s 4d to 2s 6d. Barley— Prime malting, 3a 4d to 3a 6d ; medium, 2s 8d to 2a lOd ; feed, 2s to 2a 2d, Beans 3s 2d to 3s 3d, Peas— Prussian blue peas, 3s 8s to 3s 9d. RiEOBASa -Maobine dressed, 4s to 4s 3d; farmers' parcels, 23 9d to 3a 3d.

Cocksfoot, — Prime heavy seed, 3£d ; farmerß' (undressed Beed), 2£d to 2Jd. Daibx PaoDuoa— Butter prime, 7d to 8d ; cheese, 3£d to 4d,. aooording to size and quality. ; The above prioes are those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. Saoks extra.
