Devon, Monday 21it July. Sir,— Having heard your extremely interesting leoture on, aud aeon yonr views of Now Zealand, I havo conceived an Intense desire to visit that oolony and write a three-volume novel dealing with eoo'ety there, and oharged necessarily wi h looal warmth and color. In addition to thla I wonld write two volumes of • Impresilons of Now Z.alani mide on tbe spot,' dealing exclusively with foots, and with any question that the oolony may have at heart, and - wishes to see ventilated m a popalar manner, Oau you put me Into communication with a responsible soolety which would be J.kely to entertain my proposition ou something like tbe following terma— namely, my travelling and hotel expenses and thoao of a lady oorapanion guarantee-" from date of my leaving England till the expiration of nine months, and the sum of £1000 for tho entire oopycights ef novei aod Impressions.
