To esoape tbe sea was a matter ol impossibility. The sea oame up and broke ten feet over the rail, Bending the spray eighty feet high, Tho sea washed tho iron oapatan head oil and sent it ovorboard together with the bulwarks and boats, as soon aa the mountain wave did ite work. The gale oon* tinued with great fury. The ship was kept, running at 11 npood of ton knots an hour. Tho vessel contained a valuable oargo whiob oaueod the captain great anxiety on acoount of a number of valuable oases of new and ohoioo prints and drapery consigned to W. H. Collier, " The Corner," Ashburton, and whioh cou'd not bo ropluoed at any prioe. They are somo ot the ohoiooot goods ovory imported to this oolony.
