Brisbane, September 18 Il is stated on good authority that tbe dissension m the Cabinet which led to ths threatened resignation of Sir Thos Mcllwraitb, the Premier, was due to the action of the northern faction, led by Hon John Murtagh Macrossan, Secret»ry for Public Works and Mines, who were angry at the overthrow of the black labor question. The northerners were supported by Hon Boyd Dunlop Morshead, Colonial Secretary, and Hon W. Pattison, member of the Cabinet without portfolio. The official explanation states lhat difference of opinion exists only as to one of the items m the estimates. The latter is regarded as merely a casus belli, and efforts are being made to effect a reconciliation.
