THE LONDON LABORERS.
(PBR PKHBB ADSOOIAriODT.)
London, Soptombor 17. Strikers continue to molest tho " blacklegs " and to day 250 of the latter were chased from shed to shed at tho Albert docks, finally being penned m a corner but a posse of policemen pro vented actual violonce taking placo although tho aggressors numbered one thousand. In consequence of this disturbance a deputation from tho directors of tho Dock Companies waited on Mr J. Monro, 0.8, Chief Commissioner of Police. Mr Monro declined to take action on the grounds that his subordinates had reported that matters wore going on as smoothly as oould possibly be expected. The molesting has occurred at other docks as well as the Albert, but the disturbers of tho peace were promptly paid off. It is believed loafers and not genuine dock hands are responsible for tho outrages. At one of the docks to-day thirty blacklegs who were hotly pursued by 110 strikers narrowly escaped being^ killed by a dock engine. Many of the blacklegs are terrified at the hostile action of tho strikers and have abandoned their work.
London, September 18 Two thousand fresh men from the provinces are already competing for work at tho docks. Tho leaders of tho strikers are using every endeavor to induce the men to adhere to tho terms agreed on between them and the Dock Companies.
Ironworkers m Lysaght's galvanised iron establishment have struck for an advance of ld per ton for dipping.
