Atkinson moved the second reading of the Bating Act Amendment Bill to exempt schools within borougns from rates, He said he Intended woviDg In Committee to reinsert the clause providing for the exemption of Friendly Soolellea' lodge-rooma from ta'.es which was struck oat by tbe Legislative Oounol'. Mr Flab opposed the Bill at some length and moved It be read that day fortnight. After a long discussion the aeoond readIng was carried by 33 to 29, and the House roße at 1 o'clock. LAND CLAIMS.
