ASHBURTON AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of tbu Committee of the Aehburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at the Arcide Chambers yesterday. Presort— Mr J. 0. N. Grigg, President, (who presided), D. Thomas, T.Taylor, P. Williams, W. J. Silcock, G. W. Leadley, J. £m»H, Denis McKendry, G Reid, J. atudholme, Tj. Mawson. J. Bhearer, J. G. Restell, M. Stitt, R. Hart. The premium oatalogue submitted by the sab-committee was adopted with few alterations. The principal differences from Jaat year are that the olaeßes for pigs i are re-arranged, that separ itor button's i.o be shown in a separate class, and that ea t butler is to be Beat to the secretary twenty-one days before the show. i Mr Taylor moved that classes for wheat winter and spring), barley (feed and malting), oats (long and short), ryegrass seed, and peas, be added to the catalogue. —Seconded by Mr Siicook and carried.— It was decided that tbree bushel e of each should be shown, and the grain, &o, to be grown by the exhibitors who are to bo bonafide farmers. Mr Thomas mentioned that Messrs Gould and Cameron had given a special prize for cattle, and the cup which he had offered for the cattle would be given in the produce classes, Mr Williams intimated that hit firm, Williams and Bland, intended to give a £5 5a prize Mr Williams referred to the confusion oraaed by the owners of horses not getting their proper tioketa, through not applying for them in time. He moved that the numbered tickets for horses shall be obtained the previous day. Me Studholme seconded the motion. There waa_ considerable discaseion on ibe subject, It was thought that there would be some inconvenience in carrying out the rule, but there was a general opinion in favor of the suggestion; The Chairman and Mr Thomas thought that the mm tar should be considered by a general meeting, and Mr Williams withdrew his motion.
