—i: «. — MR D. THOMAS. Mr D. Thomas (late Matson, Cox, and Co.) reports upon the Live Stock Market for the Ashburton District for the week ending Sept. 3rd, as follows: — On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I held my usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs. There was a total entry for the day of 3731 sheen, 33 cattle, and 70 pigs, of which I sold 2063 sheep, 41 pig?, and 6 head of cattle. There was a fair attendance of buyers. and taken all round the sale was a satisfactory one. The following were the prices realised : — Fat crossbred wethers, with a few ewes, 13s ad and 13s 6d ; merino wethers f 8s lid, 9s, 9s yd, 9s Bd, 9s 9d, to 10s ; store merino ewes m lamb, ss, 5s 2d, 5s 4d, to 6s 3d ; two tooth crossbred wethers and ewes, ios Bd, 12s, 12s lid ; crossbred hoggets good condition, us €i. In Pigs, 19 at 99, 13 at 12s 6d, 9at 15s. In Cattle—Fat cows, £4. to ,£4 ics ; old cows, £ * to £ I ss ; two young cattle. £1 7s. I also held my usual sale of Sheep Skins, Which sold as follows :— Best dried crossbred, :6d to 5s 8d ; medium, 4s 6d to 45 8d ; inferior, 2s id to 2s 6d ; merino, 4s Sd to 4< iod ; inferior, 2s 6d ; pelts, iod.
