THE "CENTENNIAL" SUNK.

All on board were saved. Details directly. Later.' The Centennial sailed for Wellington at nine o'closk last night. The weather was fine, and the captain and secqnd officer were on the bridge. Off Brad* ley's Head, half way down the harbor, the steam collier Kanabooka, inward bound, struck the Centennial stem on. There was a terrible commotion among the passengers. In a few minutes, when the Kanabooka got clear, it was found that a big holehad been made m the bow of the Centennial, and water was pouring m. The vessel was headed for the shore, but before reaching shallow water the fires were extinguished, and the vessel sunk within ten minutes. Immediately after the collision the boats were lowered and passengers taken off j the crew were rescued by passing steamers. The pook who was m the forecastle at the lime of the col-' lision crawled through the hole and jumped into the sea, when the propeller of the Kanabooka struck his leg, breakj ing if, and making a frightful gash. He was rescued and taken to the hos 7 pital. The passengers and crew lost everything except what thej were dressed m. The officers of the Centennial behaved splendidly. The vessel went down bow first, only the mast heads appearing above the water, The passengers were Messrs Tobin, Lswis, Thomas, Arthur, Conn, Mickie, Howston, Thompson, Montgomery (2), Keirle, Johnston, Humphries, Gellespie, Walsh, Filzpatrick; Mesdames Sievwright, Montgomery, Keirle ; Misses Sievvvright (2), Johnston (2). The Kanaboofca's bow was wrecked, and but for her water tight compartments she would have foundered. The hole m her bow is six feet la diameter,
