EXTRAORDINARY STATEMENTS
(PebPriss Association,) Auckland, August 20. Some discussion has been caused by m statement of the Rev J. Hill, daring an address on Sunday afternoon at the Toting Men's Christian Association Booms. The rev gentleman, In speaking of the administration of jaatioe, mentioned tiromurdei trials held In Auckland within the last few years, the Hamilton-Priestly oaseand that of Oaflfrey nni Pann. la regard to the first, he said that a fonl murder had been committed, and few oonneoted with the prisoner had any doabt who had oom« mltted It, although the jary returned m verdict of " Not guilty." With respect to the Great Barrier oase, Mi Hill said that had the whole troth been known t pnblio opinion would have been very different, and he questioned very maoh whether both men would have been executed.
