Then Gibson left him to j wander about aimlessly m the "horrors," and 1 is supposed he made his way to I the spring of water where he was found ! and died there, Frcm letters found on the body, it appears that deceased received £30 since February, m two sums, from his wife and mother who are m the Old Country. A verdict was returned of " found dead," and a rider censoring Gibson for bis base conduot was added. Suicide. Wellington, August 13. A man named Thomas Cooper, recently of Masterton, oommitted sulolde yesterday afternoon, at Pahlataa Tillage Settlement, by banging himself on a wire fenoo. He leaves a wife and five children. ! An Absconder. AUOBXARD, AugUlt 13. Obarles Edward Beokman, who was arrested yesterday appeared at the Police Court to-day charged with attempting to leave the colony snd taking £200 or upwards, whloh ought by low to bo divi led amongat his creditors under the Bankruptcy Aat. Inspector Broham ask d for the remand of Beckbam to Masterton. Dr Laishley for aoeused objeoted, and stated that defendant was not aware he had been declared bankrupt. Ha was visiting Auckland and had do Intention of leaving the oolony and would have returned south. A remand was granted, bail being allowed, Beokman £150, and two sureties £100. Beokman stated he left enough money with his wife to pay his debtr, but she was advised otherwise and brought it to Auckland. When arrested Beokman bad £33 5s m his posiesslon, snd on his instructions bis wife ga?e the polios £250 m notes.

Charles Edward Beokman, arrested at Auckland, was formerly a publican at lSketafanns, In the Walrarapadlstrlo', and Is charged with baing an absconding bankrupt; He received £400 for the sale of property recently and then left the dlstrlot. His debts proved against the estate amount to £321. A reward of £4q had been offered for Beokman's arrest.
