CORN EXCHANGE

The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday. August olh :-r

The week has been exceptionally quiet in both grain and produce lines, a few lines of tuscan have been placed for special orders but there seems no disposit'on whatever to speculate, any orders coming to hand are easily fulfilled atour top quotations. Sydney shows no disposition to do business, this we cannot expect unt ktocks become more l : mited. Millers are operating very sparingly and only when prime lines are offered at low figures. Oats are dull, although there are but few oflferine. Barley is very dull, ma's'.ers beirg full up and shippers are waiting returns of their Melbourne shipments. Ryegrass and clovers have a good retail demand, and stocks of the former are becoming limited. Potatoes have sufferel a ' decline owing to the fall in values in Sydney,' sales have been made below our quotations, The following are the week's quotations. WiiEAT.-*-Tuscan 3a 6i to 3s 7<l ; pearl 33 3d to 3s 4d j hunter's 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; broken 2s 8d to 25 gd.

Oats.— Milling 2s qd to 2s iod • short fead 23 8d to 2s 9J ; ordinary 2s 6d to 2s Bd.

Barley. — Prime ma'ting 3s gd; medium 3s to 3s 3d ; seed as $d to 2s gd. Beans 3s 3d to 3s 4d. Peas. — Blue peas 3s gd to 45 ; seed 3s (o 3s 2d. Ryf.grass Seed.— Machine dressed 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; farmers' lines 3s $d to 4s. Cocksfoot. — Prime heavy 3d to 3#d J fQTgy and light 2j£d to 2%"d. "Potatoes 67s 6d to 70s at country stations.
