Auckland, August 7 Yesterday afternoon Mr Broomwoll, who is at present m Auckland and represents a largo number of insuranco offices m Ban Francisco, received a cable reporting a largo fire at Fpokano Falls, Washington Territory, by which £6,000,000 worth of property has been destroyed by firo. Mr Broomwell states that Kpokano was a thriving town of j somo 20,000 inhabitants with an abundant supply of water. It is evident, however, tbat tho conflagration must, at an early stage, have gone beyond tho control of tho local brigades and aided probably by a. galo swept everything beforo it.
