NEW SOUTH WALES.
SVDNBV, AllgUßt 1. Mr Price Williams, the eminent Railway Engineer, has furnished a. report on the railways of New South Wales, which corroborates the' opinion expressed by ihe Chief Commissioner a few months ago. In his report to the Government Mr Williams condemns the rolling stock wholesale, and says it will be necessary to expend on locomotives and mo. less than on carriages and waggons to restore the plant tor its' normal condition. The question of granting a Constitution to Western Australia is engaging the attention of all ihe Australian Parliaments. Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General for this colony, m answer to instructions to urge the Imperial Government to grant the request for responsible government has cabled to Sir H. Parkes that Lord Knutsford hopes to get the second reading of • the Bill passed, but fears that it will be impossible to carry it through tbe final stages before the prorogation.
