THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.

In the Legislative Assembly the Postmaster-General has given notice that he will on Tuesday next move that the House agree to the extension of the San Francisco Mail Service for twelve months. The subsidy is reduced to and there is a proviso that if New Zealand hereafter join m the contract, or contribute m postages or subsidy, any sum m excess of ;£6ooo, such excess to the exteq^ of shall go to the Union Company. New South Wales will take two-thirds and the Company one -third of any American contribution, All postages will be retained by New South Wales subject to adjustment with New Zealand if the latter colony agree to the extension of the contract. Only European crews will be employed on the mail steamers.
