There is a strong, belief that the curtailment of . the territory which the Government is to control, is being done m the interest of land grabbers. It is stated that 180,000,000 acres of land are at present leased to Syndicates, and this is the territory of which the Imperial Government design io retain control. The lessees, H is Stated, are powerful syndicates and banks. Lord Knutsford was questioned m the Upper House as to whether one Foraset, : who is largely interested m these syndicates, is a brother of the Commiasionerof Crown Lands at Perth, bat hu reply was evasive. .(fcfeoelved July 20. 113 30 p.m.) £ ■'-■■' "■ Lohdon, July 19 In the House of Commons to-day, Sir George Campbell member for Kirkoaldy gave notice otmotion rejecting the Bill giving responsible Government to Western Australia.
