He insisted that there should be a half-time system for public aod municipal works, not that one olass should have constant employment and others be entirely without work. He Baid that they should petition Parliament on this subjeot, for they bad an equal right to the expenditure on publio works. They had theories from every pulpit m Auokland, but no one propounded a remedy. No one there was prepared to endorse this proposal. A correspondent of the " Southland News " states thp.t a resident of the Western distriot well known for his very thrifty disposition, walked from Otautau to Riverton and baok a few months ago, presumably to save the train fare, but when questioned on the subject he said he would rather walk— he liked to bo the country. This was eolipsed by a still more recent performanoo, when he walked 70 miles to save something under 109, though m the long run it must have oost him that sum m hotel expenses- This very thrifty person is generally supposed to be worth a cool £1000. Riding or driving from Ashburton to Ohriatohuroh and baok is nothing to this.

We dip the following important testimonial from the " Illawarra Meroury " (N.S.W.) of the 30th Maroh. Mr Loveday writes also that he has found the Euoalypti Extraot a cure for rheumatism as well as gravel. He requesta us to publish this information through the ' Meroury.' We have much pleasure m complying with Mr Loveday'B request, whose word cannot be doubted, and who oan have no objeot m view other than a pure desire to benefit suffering humanity." — )Advt. 2
