Braokman, beiog a stranger, did not know the nearest settlement, and experienced great difficulty la reaching the ' Maori pah at Wakapuaka. He started at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and being overtaken by night slept on one of the surrounding hills quite without shelter and his clothes were frcz non him, At daybreak he started again and reached the | Maori settlement at three o'clock In the " afternoon m a state of utter collapse.
