[PKB rRBBS ASSOCIATION, j Wellington, Jaly 2 For the last fortnight a cnae has been going on m the Supreme Court, Kangitewbata v Stuart and Davis, m which a number of Maoriß claim £2000 from defendants for land at Otakl. The jury was composed half of Europeans and half of Natives. To«day, after deliberat ing nearly four hours, they disagreed, the whites taking one side and the Maoris the oth r. Finding th,ero wa» no obance of either giving way the jury was discharged, and the two weeks 1 labor has consequently been wasted. Christohuroh, Jaly 3 The criminal sittings of Supreme Court were continued yesterday, when the following were the results of trials ; Anguetus May, convicted the previous day of larceny, was put on twelve months' probation ) David Rowlands, for stealing from the person, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment Frank titqves, acoußed of rape, was acquitted, aa were Frank O'Neill and Oioseph Olarkaon, accused <tt aaaaiilfc and robbery.
