* Ihe aonual meeting of the Ashburton facing Clat?, which h?td been postponed from the previouß Saturday, was held last Saturday CTeaing at the Club Room, Commercial Hotel. There was not a large attendance; H* G. W, Purnell, Chairman of Committee took the chair. Three new members were elected. An approximate balance sheet (some accounts being still open) was bubmitted, showing receipts to be £1498 12s sd, including balance f om 1887-8 13s 3d ; rent of course and reserve, .£BS; nomination and acceptance fees, 15s ; receipts from selling races, £97 S s » sa^ es °^ P" v^ e g es » cards and gate money, £248 is 2 1 ; totalisator, £481 16s : and members' subscriptions .£4O, 7s.
