The ship lolanthe which ran down the Cape Verde on Saturday eight is badly damaged abov2 the water line. Tbe Cape Verde had on boerd a heavy •hipment of explosives, «nd it is believed that her dect was broken up by an explosion cauied by the conbustibles being Utaited by the showers of sparks cauied bo tbe force of the impact when the collision took place. The Cape Verde** cargo it floating about.
