Wellington, .Tcjhe 20 A dispute has arisen over the Garrison Band fnstrumonta. faotw^en the Trustees on tho one hand, and Colonel Butta, Commander of the distrtor, on the other, Some time ago a Committee of civilians' Volunteers, and bandsmen mooted the idea of obtaining n 1 w instruments. The idea was favorably entertained, and a subscription list to moot the cost wai started. The Volunteer Corps and those connected with Volun'eering subscribed, but when the yublio w ro approached they obj'oted, saying that the instruments should ba made the property of the city, and the Garrison Band should, as long as they remained a band, have the use of them and play gratis foe all public benefits. Under this naderotandfnß new Oliver plated instruments were obtained at a oost of £400. Now, however. Colonel Butta wishes them to be handed over to the band solely, to remain the property of the Government.
