ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET

Mr D. Thomas (la- c Mateon Oox and Co) reports upon the live etook market for the Ashburton district for the week ending June 11th as follows :— On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards 1 held my usual weekly sale of sheep cattle and pigs. The total entry for the day consisted of 5394 sheep 33 head of cattle and 5 pigs, of which I sold 2214 Bheep 5 pigs and 13 head of cattle. The aheep were mostly of good quality and the bidding througboot the sale spirited, and.all sales very stisfactory to sellers. I sod fat crossbred ewes fr= m 8s 3d to 12s 8d ; fat merino ewes 5s 7d to 6s 3d; 2 and 4-tooth ewes and wethe*s fit for turnips 13s Id to 13s 6d ; merino wethers, Bound month 6s 6d to Si lid J medium crossbred ewes In lamb, 7s 6dto 9s 6d ; crossbred lambs, 7s lOd to 9s. A fine line of crossbred ewes m lamb 10a Bd. In pigs, porkers, 16s 6i j fat pies, aooording to weights 3d to 4d per lb. Fat oattle, £3 £3 7s 6d to £5 } springers m .poor condition, £2 16s ; Calves Bs. On Saturday I held a clearing sale of implements and horses at my yards, when I had a very large attendance and the whole of my entry was sold at satisfactory prioas. Ploughs from £6 5s to £l3; drays, £6 to £14 Pa; Waggon, £13 10i ; horses, £8 10s, £10 10*, £15, £17, £19 10s, £22 10s. Harness, etc., at good rates. .
