» ■ ■ The hounds met at Sootsdean on Saturday Jane Ist, for the seoond time this season. The weather, whiob was very oold, made it quits impossible for the soem to lie, the hound* ran to a Tery oatohy soent all the afternoon till whipped off. The fenoea were very rongh and fall of wire, causing a goodly number of spills. About thirty equestrians followedi inolading one or two ladies. Thursday, June 6, was the next fixture it Mr H. W. Parsons', near Ohertsey. Some 95 riders took part m the chase, whioh number wonld have been largely augmented but for - the Methven meet on the following Monday coming so soon afterwards. After doing joatioe to Mr Parson's hospitality, « paddook close to the house was beaten and puss took a airoular course of some 2 miles before ■ oheok. After a little delay,|the goenl being very oold, she waa again sent away at a strong pace for a time, bat was eventually lost, after a nice run. Another ban wu found and the pack worked splendidly running into their gama m just 17 minutes, without a oheok. After partaking of further refresh* ments, kindly provided by Mr and Mri Parsons', the party dispersed, apparently well pleased with our sport. / On Monday, June 10, the homds met aft Methven and representatives from all parts of; the oounty were there, but the weather wa« fi against sport, a not weßt wind off the mow* clad mountains blew very oold most of the day and prevented a number of poisons from' putting m an appsaranoe. About 35 riden tnrned out, and although the pack was unable to show sport they ran to a oold soent from about 12 o'olook till aye, allowing halt an hour for luoob at Mr Joaeph Batty's. In the after* noon the sun came out for a while and what promised to be a nice run was spoiled by pass getting into a large plantation foil of hares, the hounds having to be whipped off. Whilst on the way home another hare was started and took a line towards the hill, hares jump, ing up all the way, it Wag found impossible to keep on the right one, After a oross oountry ride of four miles they were again whipped off for home near the Methven township. The oountry oould hardly be beaten, and on any future occasion, with favorable weather ft good day's sport may be relied upon m IbJi part of the district.
