THE SALE OF THE RONS

There was a good attendance at the •ale of the runs the room, holding about 400 being oraramed. So fat twenty runs tuve been sold, and all but five have been bought by the present holders. For a few there wti keen competition. For In■tanoe, the biddings ran from apre* m follows :— £9oo to £1220 £150 to £650, £420 to £1000, £800 to 1340. Several old settlers were appltuded on securing tbelr holdings. In one ease there was an ebullition of oontrary feeling, the present lessee bilng ont-bld by an enemy made through a raolng scandal, Laxir.

The sale of the runs was completed at L3O p.m. The total of the npset rents tH £22,630. Ten mountainous ram of 1 total upset value of 61975 were not ■old. Thirty went at the apaet price and 94 ware competed for, producing an ad* diUonal rental o* £7780 The intal rents obtained were £28 435. Mr Biker, the Commissioner, who condacted the sale, expressed the opinion that he had a good •*le,
