A number of Irish ladies, I sympathisers with the Home Rule cause, sent ajelegrjun to r Her ..Queen, ; protesting against* |tne; of 'tforjegal "evlctirtg "tenants J on .-' the Queen's Birthday. j Fierce resistance was offered to eviction by the tenants on the Olphert estate, and many casualties occurred. Some severe wounds were inflicted .during a hand-to-hand encounter 'between' the police and the peasantry, and m some cases the. injuries are serious.
