The steam collier Duckenfjeld, bound from Newcastle to Sydney, struck the reef off Broken Bay on Friday night, and, owing to the fierceness of the storm, she went to pieces m a few minutes. One of het crew, named Struthers, was drowned while the boats were being launched, but the remainder were picked up by a passing vessel.
