Strong comment is made In sporting elreles m reference to St Olalr's running on Saturday, as following his performance In the Birthday Handicap whioh was won by bis stable companion and In which St Olalr was never prominent, whereas In tbe Provincial Handicap he simply romped away from the field. He certainly had lllbe less to carry than on the previous day, while the horses he aeaio nftt were practically not reduoed at all, bnt, given that, the change of form was as startling as In any of the sensational esses, A similar lnstanee previously ooourred on bur course and naturally exolted a dUsetlsltd feeling, A large number of spectators gave vent to their dlssatlsfaotlon m no unmeasured terms and It was very generally anticipated that the Sttwards woold take some steps to obtain a satisfactory explanation of St Olalr's In and •ttt running but oo protest was lodged and no action was taken.
