Mr D, Thomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Co.) reports upon the Live Stock Market for the Ashburton District for the week ending May 14th as follows :— On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I he'd my usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs, The total entiy consisted of 6766 sheep, 1 1 cattle, 10 pigt, and 19 rams. The attendance \yas not very large, and the bidding at the commencement of the sale was languid. I sold of the above I catalogue 3 118 sheep, if rams, and 8 head of cattle at the following rates ; — Fat crossbred ewes from 9s 6d to 12s j merino ewes, 5s Bd. In store, 2400 th crossbred ewes and wethers, 103 lod to |Qs lid ; crossbred lambs, 3s to $jj 7d ; aged crossbred ewes, 4s 6d to 4s gd ; merino ewes, boilers, is 6d to 2s 3d, In Cittle a small entry without any improve* ment, Pigs equal to late sale.

We sold full mouth crossbred ewes, fat, 8s 6d ; 2 tooth crossbred ewes and wethers, 9s ndj fat merino' ewes, £s 7d j crossbred lambs, ss; crossbred ewes m lamb, very poor, 4s <jd. We also sold fat bacon pigs, heavy weights, £1 IS*. £ 2 > £2 13s, £2 15s, £2 19s. Cattle as usual were not m demand. Cows, £2 to £3 I2S 6d.
