A few days back the 1 ■ohooner Pnnul arrived from Tahiti at Ngataogla, and from her captain was ob aloed tbe very nnweloome news, that after al), the French anthorltlea at Tahiti had itoten a matoh and bolited their fl >g* on the lriands of Rlmatara and Rntuhl. Tbla netra created a great deal of excitement here, and general regret waa ex* preued at tha misfortune tbat bad befallen the people of tha two Islands, for the seizing of theae Islands In the faoe of the itroog ezpreHton against Frenoh ooonpatlon which the patitton from the Natives to Qaeen VlotorU oontalned, oannot be looked apon m any other light than that of a very great mlifortane, and a cruel wrong to the owners of tbe soil. The schooner, Nissan, which arrive! yesterday from Tahiti brings Intelligence that the Frenoh bad decided to annex tbe Island of Manheke. This Island about 500 miles to tbe north of New Zealand, and li a very valuable little island. The Riobmond brings farther news that when the French man-of-war reaohed the Island ntmed the Natives had hoisted tbe British fltg, thus securing the Island against Frenoh oooupation.
