Prince Bismarck is said to be much concerned at the spread of strikes m Westphalia, which evidently are caused by a wide and effective organisation. As the outcome of the strikes, Urge quantities of coal, coke, and iron were purchased m England for use m Germany. BißLtar, M»y 17, The Emperor William has advised 8 deputation from the colliery proprietor! who waited upon him to keep clou touch of the workmen and use every effort to provide for their welfare. It is probable that a compromise will be arranged on the basis of eight houn labor, with increased wages.
