FIGHTING IN ABYSSINIA.
London. May 10. A battle has been fought between the Negus and the Dervishes, lasting three days. On the first day the Negus was victorious and captured many prisoners. On the second day the Dervishes surprised the Negus and wounded him. In a fever of rage the Negus beheaded 2000 captives heaping their corpses before him. On the third day, dressed m sumptuous robes, he mounted his horse and declared himself the elect of God and invincible. He was again wounded, and afterwards killed and his army routed, thirty thousand (sic) being killed. It is reported that Englishmen commanded the Dervishes.
