Daring Burglary. __ _ Palmebston jnoeth May 6
A daring burglary was committed here last night. Mr Jas. Miller'ss store m the Square was broken Into and the sf c extracted The safe waa taken awny m a wheelbarrow and broken open with au axe, m an open plot of ground about 100 yar's from the Square. About £40 m money was taken, but tbe books and papers were left unin jured. The circumstances are very similar to thoaa of ibe Feilding Poet Cffi c burglary.
The Governor* YVM.MNOTOK, May 6. The Governor held his first levee this morning. There was a large attendance In consequence the Court ot Appeal adjourned till thi* afternoon. Singular Accident. TiMAKU, May 6.
Mr W. F. Campbell, aged 29, accountant m the Bank of New South Wales, died thta morning from the effeots of a foolish freak. After midnight on Saturday he and another itarted from the hotel for a race round a Hook of buildings. Campbell ran into a horse trough and fatally injured himself.
