A dastardly affair occurred at Cape Foulwind between twelve and one o'clock 1 iat night, A large stone bnlldlng, occupied by Ballantyno Broa (who ara oona.oted with the contractors), was blown up with dynamite. The timber was shattered, and sheets of Iron thrown ' some distance away, with holes In them where tins of goods had been blown through. The two Ballamynas were sleeping at tbe rear of their premises. One of their bunks was moved, but they escaped uninjured. A boy was sleeping on tbe fljor of the store next to tha partition of the room in whioh the Baliamynes were. Ha was unhurt. A timekeeper named Brown usually slept in tbe front part of the store, but fortunately be had not gone to bed. Had be done so, certainly he would have been killed. The police are making enquiries. There is no clue to the author of the outrage. Great Indignation exist amongst the unionists and others, especially as the relations between the con- ; tractors and men are of the most pacific and friendly character. Wellington, April 27. Two extra policemen will be sent to Westport in consequence of the recent dynamite explosion.
