CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET

As the Oorn Exchange Committee doeci not appear to have issued a report this week we subjoin that of the " Lyttelton Tlmea " :—

Nothing speoUl has oocurred m the grain market during the past week. The Darlsdeer has Ballad this week for Sydney with oloro on 14 000 sacks wheat. Reoent cablegrams from that market report an easier feeling and a slight drop In prices, whloh has been reflected here In the quotations for Hunter's and Pearl, while Tusoan retains its prloa. Considerable paroels have been offering daring the week, and deliveries have been considerable, the fine weather lately experienced favoring threshing und cartlDg. For Hunter's prices now rule at 3s 7d to 3s 81 ; Pear), 3s 8d to 3s 93 ; and 4s to 4a Id for Tnsoan. Good ohlck samples command 3a to 3i 2d, and broken lots are leas saleable at 2s 8d to 2 4 lOd.

Oats are firmest 2i 10d for milling ; 2s 8d to 2s Od for stout feed ; and 2* 51 to 2s 6d for long and thtn sorts. Da a oats of good quality are asked for at 2s 6d to 2s 7i 1 ; prime sample of Tartars tit for seed aru not f reqaently brought forward, and 2a 8d to 2s 9d is demanded. A fair business has transpired daring the week

Barley.— Only a moderate enquiry oan be noticed. Values are, however, a shade easier though holders of prime lots stick out for fall rates. Best lota 3s 8i to 3d lOd ; good. Si 3d to 3j 6d. Beans and Peas,— The enquiry for beans has been active lately for shipping purposes, at 3s Id to 3s 33 ; for Prussian blue peas values stand 3j 7d to 3ißd; feed descriptions, 3i to 3 1 Id. Flour.— Millers quote £9 10s to £10 for stone, and up to £11 tor roller. Grass Seed.— The autumn sowing season is rapidly approaohlng a dose, and orders from country people are becoming less frequent. Dealers, however, are still purchasing at 2s 6d to 3s 3d fot farmers' parcels, aooording to parity, and up to 3s 61 to 3s 9i for town maohlne dressed. In oioksfoot stray orders only oome to hand, and buyers are indifferent. Very little business has transpired at 2d to 2£dA few odd lots of town maohlne dressed hsva been sod at 3d to 3J3; Dairy Produce. — Batter Is a shade easier, the export enquiry not being so strong Blgbtpenoe to 9i is now quoted.
