MYSTERIOUS OCCURRENCE

Auckland, April 16 The woman Mary Ann Wilson, recently slabbed at Arch Hill, died this morning m the Hospital fcho had just given her de position when she expired. In ttrs avl dence she stated that it was Louis Paget, with whom she bad lived, who stabbed her. She deposed that on the night of the sth she and Paget left Auckland for Waikomiti, eight miles distant, where they resided. Paget was drunk, and when they got to Arch Bill, two miles out of town, they sat down to rest, it was at this time after 11 o'clock Wilson fell asleep, and awoke to. find Paget over her with a knife m hisj hapd. She struggled to prevent him from cutting her throat, and he then stabbed her m the bresßt. The woman fainted, and when she revived m the early morning she walked with Paget to* the Hospital. She had previously refused to state who it was that inflicted the wound beoause Paget had asked her not to tell. Since his incarceration Paget wrote a letter m which he states that he had no recollection of stabbing the weman, and if he did so iti must have been accidental.
