THE TASMANIAN LOAN.
Protests -against the proposed Tasmanian one million inscribed $% per cent loan are being made on the ground that the previous loan has been misappropriated. It is thought that the threat made by the Tasmanian Railway Company m February last, that they would oppose the new loan and decar quotations being obtained for it unless they succeeded m making a satisfactory working agreement with the Tasmanian Government has imperilled the prospects. The loan financiers do not approve of so high a minimum as 97 being fixed for the loan. Mr C. £. N. Braddon, AgentGeneral for Tasmania, m a letter to the " Times," says he is prepared to prove that the grounds of the protests, that the former loaus had been misappropriated, were quite without foundation.
