The Yen. Archpriest (iario, one of the first French missionaries to New Zealand, who lauded m the colony iv 1840, and who had been priest of Nelson since 1850, died this morning. He was m his eixty ninth year. His exertions In educational matters, apecially m establishing the St Mary's Orphanage, are well-koown. The Archbishop of Wellington and several citizens were amongst his early private pupils. The deceased, who belonged to the Mariet Order, was highly esteemed and respected by fall olasses of the community. iNTEBOABaiLL. April 14. In the Supreme Oourt yesterday his Honor nonsuited Small and Oo m their action a gainst W. Guthrie and Oo for £1500 for breach oE agreement to purcha»e a sawmill, on the teohninal objeotion ateed by Sir B. Stout that the plaintlfid had no title to the land on whioh the mill stood. The first firm got leave from the Orown to occupy the land for seven years, but only paid one year's rent, two guineas. Tho plaintiffs had paid none. The eevea years have now expired, and the plaintiffs are de facto trespassers. Leave was given to move for a new trial.
